It has all the information relative to the housing element initiative. And it is constantly updated as we receive updates, both on our initiative and any, activities in Sacramento and legislation. We've got our Optico contract approved by the city council, I think a couple weeks ago. Had our first kickoff meeting today with Chair Feller and myself and Bob Brown. a bunch of fantastic smart people at OptiCo. Jim joined us for a few minutes and I really think you know, we've got some super you know, challenges ahead specifically with respect to views. The rest of it I think is gonna fall into place rather nicely and I think this is gonna be a really interesting, that we have hopefully in the next several months will be down the road we're working closely with Director Moore with the housing element stuff as well so that we get the most out of this process. So really looking forward to that. It seems like it's going really well. And just another couple of odd observations about the real estate housing and land use world. I'm very happy to see the 192 units approved in Terra Linda. I think the city council did a great job there. I think everybody's happy with that project and it's gonna be a wonderful addition to Marin and On a more comical or bizarre note, I'm actually very happy to see Woodside withdraw their strange mountain lion issue from their housing element discussion. It does kind of point to You know, things are gonna get strange and there are real issues out there. I'm not sure Mount Lyons are one of them, but you know, fire safety and water issues with respect to housing elements and how much development for the Bay Area can really handle at this point. is gonna be fascinating to see. I just had a couple couple items and I want to reiterate something that Commissioner Juni was mentioned in our communications at our last hearing and that is please write to us please don't wait for the last minute we always look at communications and correspondence we can't help any type of issue in the city if we don't know about it. So we encourage the public to do that. The other thing that I would like to encourage is when the planning commission has a application or an applicant in front of us and we identify what the findings are That is our roadmap for any approvals. So we'd like to ask applicants when they come in front of us to familiarize yourself with that. It is published ahead of time and we encourage to please follow along with that. I'd like to ask staff if at our next hearing or soon thereafter, if we could get an update on a couple different enforcement issues And if, you know, we had talked about this last year, but if we could get enforcement back front and center Although the planning commission is not responsible for enforcement, We're very interested in enforcement because it also helps inform us how we may or may not condition certain projects. So it's really important that we see these things full circle And issues like the tree issue on plat with the 40 trees that were cut we've we've been in the dark with that There are a couple other projects around town that we've sent one-way communications to staff regarding and if there's any update from the Department of Public Works regarding their geological hazard survey, or the communication that was sent to the city manager about the urgency for updating the downtown parking study and survey and expanding that scope actually We'd love to hear more about that as well. So really appreciate all the heavy lifting staff has been doing. I know this is a very busy time with all these different initiatives going, and we're just part of it. So thank you very, very much. And I just ask for your patience as we move through all these regulatory edicts that have come our way in the last four years. This is a new period of time. We're faced, as you said, Andrew, Andrew, earlier today, this is new. This is earth-shaking, the changes that have come. So we're all in this together. And of course, the housing element is a big lift. And so thank you, Commissioner Assad, again, for mentioning what I should have mentioned when I had the opening there. It's going to be very helpful tomorrow. It's our kickoff. There will be a timeline that we'll be going over during that meeting, which is very important to sort of wrap your head around. We're on a fast track here. I'm quite concerned about getting to the finish line. And I think what you said, Chair Feller, is so important. getting the public involved in this 100% and allowing the public to vet the issues among themselves, not just being fed what can happen from learned professionals or consultants, but the town itself has to come together and chew on this and have the time to chew on it. So I'm looking with a fine-toothed comb on this timeline on how we can accomplish that and make the timing still happen. So again, I'm just really thrilled to be here. |
